If you suffer from facial rosacea or broken capillaries around your nose and neck, consider photofacial treatments – in just a few sessions, the only thing rosy will be your new outlook on life!
Photofacials rejuvenate your skin using a remarkable non-abrasive and non-invasive technology that incorporates Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). The IPL Photofacial hand-piece is gently pressed to the skin and pulses of light are emitted. The actual pulse can range in feeling – from just a “tap” to a “rubber band snap” – against the skin.
One session normally takes less than half an hour, but 3-5 days of recovery are required, during which the treated area will turn brown and flake off.
Broken capillaries (red veins, particularly around nose and neck area) and rosacea can greatly benefit from IPL, and it has also been used to reduce the appearance of mild acne scars, dark circles around the eyes and fine lines around the eyes and mouth. Usually 3-6 treatments are necessary, depending on your skin care goals.
However, melasma (dark pigmentation on cheeks, upper lip and forehead, often due to hormones) may respond better to a treatment other than IPL.
